Local Earth Club is a community-powered conservation group that does two things. First, we craft and oversee rigorous academic research projects with local communities in the Philippines. Second, we run immersive research and education programs focused on marine and environmental protection, especially for sea turtles (our first project!)

Anyone passionate about nature, climate, or wildlife: students, recent grads, career changers, or curious wanderers. No prior experience needed.

However, if you want to lead research projects, be more involved, or propose projects, of course experience is needed, on a case by case basis.

We currently operate in one coastal area in the Philippines, Isabela, where we co-operate a Green Sea Turtle conservation project and hatchery with the local government.

Not at all. At our joinable research programs we’ll train you on everything from beach mapping to hatchling sampling. You bring the curiosity, we’ll bring the protocol.

We just started LEC March 2025 and are currently only focused on marine conservation projects and research. However, we do plan to expand to other environmental conservation sectors one at a time, slowly, and as our communities need them. We will probably be fully marine-based for at least our first 2-3 years.

We are the environmental research arm of Haraya Projects Foundation, which is an NGO. Local Earth Club Inc. is a social enterprise that operates in conjunction with Haraya Projects.
